The beloved editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland, literary agent who discovered author Ray
Bradbury, and notorious originator of the term "sci-fi", passed away today at age 92.

Cause of death was heart failure.

Any old subscribers to Famous Monsters or other Warren Pub magazines? Anyone on here ever get to meet "Uncle Forry?"

`Very sad news, wish I'd met him in person, he truly changed a lot of people's lives. I still have a few Famous Monsters magazines in my closet. Rest in Peace Mr. Ackerman.

Thank you for the response, rayman. I still have some copies stored here in plastic sheaths in boxes.

Sadly, my collection doesn't include my initial encounter with Warren Pubs: Monster World # 9. It had a still photo of The Addams Family gracing the cover. The main attraction, however, was that pict-fiction layout of "Horror of Dracula" featured within. It was comprised of all the secnes in the movie in narrative form w/ captions much like a comic book.

Warren printed adaptations of "Horror of Party Beach", "Curse of Frankenstein" & "The Mole People" in the same format.

This news of FJA's passing follows on the heels of an old college chum's brother passing away last Sunday. He was only 50. Cancer claimed him.

Whatta week!

Hope yours was good! Thank You!

No problem timidsoul. You may want to check out the documentary "Sci-Fi Boys" which is on DVD, it has a segment feature of Forrest j. Ackerman career.
